Hello GSoC 2013! Hello Planet of GNOME!

Finally landing on the Planet of GNOME! [0] Thanks for Alberto Ruiz’s help and patience!

This is the voice from huxuan, the spelling of My Chinese name 扈煊. And my English Name is Sean Hu. So you can call me Sean, Xuan Hu or just huxuan is OK. I am from Beijing, China, a graduate student majoring in Applied Computer Technology of Peking University [1]. It’s really excited to be accepted as GSoC 2013 Students for GNMOE. I will spend this summer working on Getting Things GNOME! (GTG) [2], or to be more specific, ‘Porting GTG and Liblarch to Gtk3 and Python3’. The proposal can be found here [4] and more latest update would be listed here [5].

Just as the project title indicated, The porting work means more about testing and debuging. I have already been fighting with various strange bugs even before coding period [5][6][7][8][9], and currently I am working on merging trunk branch of PyGtk version GTG into the Gtk3 ported branch and try to find some tricky methods to solve the credits wrap bug of AboutDialog [9]. As I will play with Gtk3 and PyGObject all this summer, so don’t be surprised if you find me on mail list or bugzilla of Gtk3, PyGObject or others related to Gtk App Development. Also, wish you capable guys can help me to better my GSoC work. Thanks in advance!

I will have my last exam tomorrow, next Monday (06/24/2013). So some documentation work like GNOME Live Page and weekly report hasn’t been finished. Fortunately, I will have my free summer time after that, and it will been spent on GSoC 2013 absolutely! It’s really honorable to “stand” here making friends with all you talented guys!

resumecls is available in CTAN mirror!

resumecls is a LaTeX document class which can typset resume both in Chinese and English. It’s really an honor for me that it can be included in CTAN mirror, though the first uploaded version contains some silly bugs. After reconstructing the whole project and seperate a standalone sub-project as examples to use resumecls. I think it should be more usable now, and I would like to introduce it to you guys again.

OpenVPN both with IPv4 and IPv6

This article is about some tips to setup OpenVPN both with IPv4 and IPv6. Before continuing, it’re recommended to read another post about 《Install OpenVPN with IPv6 on Ubuntu》

For the Server side:

– ONLY ONE keys set. including ca.crt, server.crt, server.key, dh1024.pem and potential ta.key.
– TWO different configuration files, for example server-v4.conf and server-v6.conf.
– The difference between two server configuration files:
– > different protocols, udp for IPv4 and udp6 for IPv6.
– > different ports for different protocols.
– > different subnet address, for example 10.8.0.0 for IPv4 and 10.8.1.0 for IPv6, both with 255.255.255.0 as netmask.

For the Client side:
– TWO different configuration files, for example client-v4.conf and client-v6.conf.
– The difference between two client configuration files:
– > different protocols, udp for IPv4 and udp6 for IPv6.
– > different remote addresses and port numbers.
